Kikyoan: Birthplace of Kamura Isota
Kamura Isota (1897 - 1933) was an author of I-novels, a Japanese literary genre in which novels deal with the author's own life. Isota's birthplace has been restored as a facility offering visitors the chance to enjoy experiencing life in an old Japanese country house. Set in a rich natural environment, the house is surrounded by rural landscapes, including country roads and streams that appear in Isota’s novels. Kikyoan is an old house with a roof made of cypress bark. Here, you can experience things that are not a part of everyday life nowadays, such as cooking on a traditional wood-fueled cookstove, a bath heated directly on a wood fire, and a sunken hearth. Come surrender yourself to the slow passage of time and experience nature, rural scenery, and interactions with locals.
