Recommendation Sightseeing Spots
Yamaguchi Furusato Heritage Center

Many kinds of traditional arts and crafts are handed down at this life-long learning facility, which is also open to tourists. There are three buildings. The Manabi-kan was a sake merchant’s house/store built in 1886. It displays traditional craft products and a very unusual tea ceremony house made inside an enormous barrel. The Miyabi-kan is a reproduction of one-third of a large house that belonged to a wealthy farmer. The house was originally built in 1891. The Takumi-kan is a modern building where you can see Yamaguchi’s famous lacquered Ouchi Dolls being made and even try your hand at making your own pair of lacquered chopsticks (reservation required).
