What is YUMEKAIRO?
Yamaguchi Prefecture Central Collaborative Urban Area, including Yamaguchi City, Ube City, Hagi City, Hofu City, Mine City, Sanyo-Onoda City and Tsuwano Town of neighboring Shimane Prefecture, was formed in March 2017 on the national collaborative urban area concept.
Yamaguchi YUMEKAIRO is the nick name.
Under the Yamaguchi Prefecture Central Collaborative Urban Area Vision, we will proceed with initiatives that will lead to creating further vitality and improving livability throughout all of this area. Our goal is not only to create a place where everyone wants to live with peace of mind, but also to create a place where everyone can continue to live.

Visiting Ouchi Historical and Cultural Sites and Yuda-Onsen Hot Spring Resort
You will visit historical and cultural sites of Ouchi clan, who had ruled Yamaguchi between the 14th and 16th centuries. Destinations include Kozan Park, where Ruri Koji Five-story Pagoda, Japan’s national treasure, is located as well as Ryufukuji Temple. You will also taste uiro, local sweets. In Yuda-Onsen, you will enjoy strolling and taking foot-bath. According to the local folk tale, Yuda hot spring was discovered by a white fox, which was in dire need for healing his wounded leg.

Visiting Sorinji Temple Garden and Tokiwa Park
You will visit Sorinji Temple garden, the oldest garden in Yamaguchi Prefecture, and Kotozaki-Hachimangu Shrine, which sells as many as 800 types of omamori, lucky charm. You will also enjoy displayed art works and greenery nature of Tokiwa Park, which was built on the lakeside of Tokiwa Lake.

Strolling Hagi Castle Town, the Birthplace of the Meiji Restoration
Hagi has numerous historical sites of Mouri clan, who had ruled Hagi and its surrounding region between the 17th and 19th centuries, and the Meiji Restoration. Hofu City
History and Culture of the Ancient Japan and Onwards
Hofu’s history can be traced back to the 7th century as there used to be the Suo Domain Government Office (Kokufu) in the 7th century. You will visit Hofu-Tenmangu Shrine, which embraces the oldest tenjin deity in Japan, and about 1,300-year old Suo-Kokubunji Temple. You will also walk around Mouri Garden and Museum, where you can see the Japanese traditional garden and learn about the Japanese history and culture of the early modern age.

Exploring the Spectacular Nature of Akiyoshi Cave and Plateau
You will visit Akiyoshido Cave, one of the largest limestone caves in Japan, and Akiyoshidai Plateau, where you can see the breath-taking landscape of greenery karst plateau with countless white lime stones. Both sites are Japan’s natural monuments. Akiyoshidai Plateau is one of Japan’s official geo-parks, and its conservation efforts are geared toward the achievement of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

Visiting Hana-no-umi Farm and Kirara Glass Artwork Gallery and Workshop
You will see seasonal flowers in the largest vegetable and flower farm in the Western Japan.
