Issaikyo-zo (Complete Scripture Repository; Important Cultural Property), Onjo-ji Temple
Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture

The Issaikyo-zo at Onjo-ji Temple (aka Mii-dera Temple) in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, was originally located at the site of Kokushoji Temple in Yamaguchi, which is now the location of Toshunji Temple. An “Issaikyo-zo” is a repository that houses the complete corpus of Buddhist scriptures. The collection in this Issaikyo-zo was printed in the Korean kingdom of Goryeo. While it is not known exactly when the Issaikyo-zo was constructed, based on the design it is thought to date to the middle of the Muromachi period (circa 1336–1573). Mori Terumoto had it relocated and donated to Onjo-ji Temple in 1602.
