Learn the technique of Yamaguchi’s “Ouchi-nuri” lacquerware, and design your own pair of chopsticks

Yamaguchi’s Ouchi decorative style is characterized by its autumn flower and plant motifs, applied using lacquer mixed with several pigments, and its gold leaf diamond designs, all over a base of dark red of a shade called “Ouchi vermillion”. In 1989, it was designated as Traditional Japanese Craft.

Rental Kimono ・ Kimono Dressing Service

Change from your travel clothes to a colorful kimono and take a picture inside the elegant 100-tatami room of this former restaurant or in its beautiful Japanese-style gardens. You can also wear it to a stroll through town!

Apple picking in Ato

Ato district, to the northeast of the city, is known for its fruit orchards, where apples, pears and grapes are grown. With a total of 15.000 apple trees, it’s the largest producing area in western Japan.
Many of the fruit farms receive visitors, who can pick directly from the tree as many pieces of fruit as they want and eat them on the spot after paying an entry fee. Additionally, farm shops offer an assortment of handmade sweets and local produce.
